Film music composer Alexandre Desplat will write the soundtrack for the forthcoming Godzilla movie, it has been confirmed.
The Academy Award-nominated composer's music will feature in the big-budget reboot of the Godzilla franchise, which is currently in post-production and due for general release in May 2014.
Desplat has previously composed music for The King's Speech, the final instalments in the Harry Potter franchise and 2012's Argo, for which he received his most recent Academy Award nomination.
Godzilla is directed by Gareth Edwards, whose low-budget sci-fi film Monsters brought him to the attention of the film world in 2010. The remake stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Bryan Cranston and Elizabeth Olsen.
Famously, the original sound effect of Godzilla's cry was made from the sound of a leather glove being scraped across the strings of a double bass.
