The Film
Based on the novel by Richard Yates, Revolutionary Road is a portrait of many modern American marriages, seen here through the eyes of Frank and April Wheeler.
Frank and April have always regarded themselves as out of the ordinary and willing to live their lives based on higher ideals. When they move into their new house on Revolutionary Road, they proudly declare their independence from the suburban inertia surrounding them and determine never to be trapped by the social confines of their era. But despite their efforts they become just another American family with lost dreams.
The Composer
Thomas Newman has achieved 10 Academy Award nominations, though no wins as yet. One can only imagine that with scores including The Shawshank Redemption, American Beauty and Road to Perdition, the competition has been seriously tough.
